California here I come, right back where I started from!

After over 12,000 miles and countless adventures, mishaps, detours, beers, chicken wings and all-around good times, I'm home at last. I love you, California!

California Here I Come!

Yellowstone

Yellowstone Lake

Lakeside geysers.

Buffaloes roam all over the park. Here are a few sunning in a meadow near some geysers.

Lower falls of the Yellowstone River.

A geyser at "painted pots" geyser field.

The geyser field at Old Faithful.

Old Faithful! I had to wait about an hour, but thar she blows!

Oh give me a home where the buffalo roam....

Home on the Range

Thunder Road

After leaving Devil's Tower, I had to drive across Wyoming through Bighorn national forest to Cody. Thunder, wind, rain, lightning lashed the high prairie all afternoon and evening. Besides having to dodge deer three times, there wasn't another car on the road for hours. Harrowing indeed.

I have a lot more respect for those who call the wild west home. Although beautiful, this land can be harsh and tests your mettle. You have to be pretty rugged, hardy and self-reliant.

Storm clouds gathering, heading west on I-14 just outside of Sheridan, WY.

Bighorn national forest.

The Devil's Tower

The Devil's Tower is a huge rock formation that juts up suddenly into the Wyoming sky. You can see it from miles around. The rock and surrounding lands are sacred to the Lakota and other Native American tribes.

Mt Rushmore

This land was made for you and me...

South Dakota & the Badlands

South Dakota. Not the first place I'd think of going on a vacation. But after spending a couple days heading west through the state, I'd say it has more interesting sites than meets the eye.

The Badlands
Reminds me of a miniature Grand Canyon

Sharing the road with a family of bighorns.

A BBQ festival in Sioux Falls, SD! Not as large and raucous as the one in Reno, but still plenty good.

Ribs.

More ribs.

Uncle Kracker played a crowd pleasing cover of The Joker.

Went to a rodeo just outside the Badlands. Everyone decked out in their finest ranch duds. I was a bit of a fish out of water in my t-shirt and shorts. But still a great time watching the bull-riding and bareback bronc riding.

That's a big bull.

Prairie land as far as the eye can see.

Beers, brats and a ballgame

View from our seats in Wrigley. An old classic ballpark. I Fenway better.

Milwaukee, WI.

The bus outside the Miller brewery. Miller High Life, the Champagne of Beers.

The old Miller brewery, which is now a tasting room and souvenir shop.

The old Miller beer cave. Before refrigeration,  they'd keep the beers cold by putting the barrels in these caves, then packing ice all around the caves.

Brats, pretzels, beer and cheese curds. Am I in Germany or Milwaukee?
